As one of the first thin client manufacturers to produce a thin client laptop with the first model launching in 2005, VXL has built up a wealth of experience regarding the integration of thin client laptops into a wide variety of IT environments. This experience is further strengthened with the Lenovo relationship and launch of the new VXL / Lenovo ThinkPad co-branded models combining excellent product performance and price competiveness.
Frank Noon, VXL’s VP of Worldwide sales commented; “This collaboration between Lenovo and VXL signals the end of the less than ideal arrangements between thin client manufacturers and no-name OEM laptop suppliers and further ensures benefits for both end users and channel partners, including a choice of leading edge products with high speed processors, manufacturer’s warranty, extensive accessories and professional end of life procedures” he added.
The 14.1” widescreen TL412 boasts a number of product features designed for a simple and productive thin client experience. Key features include; 1 GB RAM and 1GB Flash as standard, Express PC Card Expansion slot and 1.86Ghz Intel Celeron Dual Core processor. The equally impressive 11.6” widescreen, TL100, also incorporates 1 GB RAM and 1GB Flash as standard, plus 4 in 1 PC Card slot and 1.6 GHz AMD Athlon Neo processor.
Additionally the models are available with a choice of Microsoft Windows XPe and Windows Embedded (WES) operating systems, with Linux available in the next quarter, and they also include VXL’s latest remote management software, XLmanage Workgroup Edition, as standard.
“The laptop business is really taking off as customers recognise the value and security of truly mobile thin client computing” said Noon. “There is no better way of safeguarding valuable data, and these new models also offer excellent end-user peace of mind, with the availability of a three year warranty.”
Industry analysts forecast that the current growth in thin client laptops will continue as a result of the lower purchase and running costs, ease of management and greater security.
“By expanding the range and forming a new technology relationship with Lenovo”, concludes Noon, “we are pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to quality, low cost of ownership, choice and performance”.
